Satan Exposed

Want a clearer understanding of the relationship between Jesus Christ and God, his Father?  Read the gospel of John…over and over.  Because the relationship he had is the one we are destined to have.

John 17:20-23   Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also who shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me.  And the glory which you gave me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them, as you have loved me.

I don’t care who you are, what you’re into in life……that there is good stuff !!!!!!

In this final, very intimate prayer that he made, aloud in the presence of his disciples, to his Father, Jesus said a few startling things.  None more amazing than this:

John 16:7-14  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient (profitable) for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:  Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.  I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now.  Howbeit, when he, the spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come.  He shall glorify me; for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.

Whenever you go to a gathering of saints, whether in a home or even in a large building.  listen for what is being proclaimed.  If Jesus Christ is not being proclaimed, then whatever spirit is inspiring or directing that gathering is not of the true God.  If leadership, servanthood, good works, giving, loving, patience, hope, etc. etc. is being proclaimed apart from Jesus Christ…..walk away.  Satan is setting you up to fail.

Note especially verses 8-11.  The word reprove in verse 8 needs to be understood.  It means to be held up and exposed by the light of truth.

Sin is exposed in the light of the truth that all sin has been paid for by Jesus Christ.  Only those that do not accept that gift are, thus, still guilty of sin.  In effect, the only sin not forgiveable by God is the sin of NOT believing on the gift of Jesus Christ, the payer in full of the complete debt of sin before God for all mankind.

Righteousness is exposed in the light of the righteousness of Jesus Christ, from birth, through death and resurrection, and now in the light of his departure from this world, and his sending into the world of the spirit of his righteousness. It’s a gift!

Judgment is exposed in the light of Satan (here referred to as the prince of this world) being judged and found guilty, because he had no right to have Jesus killed, thus overstepping his bounds, thus being found guilty of all the sins of the world, from beginning to end.

All of the above 3….sin, righteousness, and Satan’s blame for all sin are made known by the Holy Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ in you.

Again in John, Jesus makes a startling statement regarding Satan.

John 12:25-31  He that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.  If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be; if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.  Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say?  Father, save me from this hour?  But for this cause came I unto this hour.  Father, glorify your name.  Then came a voice from heaven, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.  The people therefore that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered; others said, an angel spoke to him.  Jesus answered and said, this voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.  Now is the judgment of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

Some versions translate this last phrase as “Now shall the prince of this world be cast down.”  My questions is, “Cast where?”  The word out is the Greek word echo, meaning without, outside, or out of doors.  It has no meaning of “down.”  Now the word judgment is the same as we saw in John 16.  Jesus is referring to the judgment of Satan that will occur when he is unjustly killed.  The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the judgment of Satan, and his being cast outside into view, for all to see.

Until this event, the enemy of man was hidden from view.  Read the Old Testament.  And then tell me, where is Satan?  Hidden from view.  Now read the gospels, and the epistles, and tell me, where is Satan?  Exposed, for all to see!

I John 3:8  He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning.  For this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Colossians 2:15  And have spoiled principalities and powers, he (Jesus) made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it (in the exposure of them).

To “spoil” means to take away everything of value.  How did Jesus spoil the Satanic powers of the world?  By stripping them of their being hidden.  Now why would exposing Satan strip him of his power?  Good question.

A lie is only powerful when you don’t know it’s a lie.
We’ve been fed rat poison our whole lives (for example), being told it’s good food, and we’ve believed the lie.  Once the food is exposed for the poison it is, it’s deceitful reign of darkness begins to go away.  As we begin to feed on the good food of the love of God in the spirit of his Son, Jesus Christ, we begin to grow and flourish…..bear fruit and enjoy this life we’ve been given.

John 8:44  (Jesus says) You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do.  He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.  When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Now that is exposure!

A lie is nothing to be feared, only be made aware of.  I could tell you countless stories of people who saw the lie in their life, and their life changed from darkness, destruction and misery into joy, success and contentment.  Without even trying!

If I came up to you and said, “You’re a cyborg…..drink oil and you’ll function better.”  Would you believe me?  Would that lie hold any power over you?  Okay, how about this.  “You’re a loser, because nobody likes you.  You’re lonely, and alone, and that’s the way it’ll be until you die.  Nobody understands you and nobody ever will.  You might as well just die.”

The truth is that Jesus Christ has exposed our enemy, the devil.  And the key to victory in this life lies in recognizing what has been exposed.

Ephesians is the greatest revelation of the entire Word of God.  Ephesians reveals the greatest revelation given to Paul, having been written right at the very end of his life.  The purpose of all the ages is revealed in Ephesians, in the understanding of which all the rest of the Bible begins to make sense and fall into place.  At the very end and in the summation of this most fantastic of all Biblical scripture, Paul writes, by inspiration of the spirit of Christ within.

Ephesians 6:10-13  Finally, my brethren, be strong (dunamis – enabled) in the Lord, and in the power (ischusdeveloped ability) of his might (kratosability to overcome).  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, (archesmost influential) against powers (dunamisability to do), against the rulers (noun form of kratos those wielding the overcoming ability) of the darkness of this world, against evil spirits in the heavenly places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day (today), and having done all, to stand.

Withstand Satan and his lies, which lies are exposed in the light of the spirit of Christ Jesus our Lord.
Stand for the truth of God, revealed in its entirety in that same spirit of Christ, Jesus our Lord.

About stevehartlaub@gmail.com

I'm a 73 year old spiritual adventurer in life, but I don't really get along with organized religion. I find it too passive, too worldly, too conforming, too powerless ... though I know many wonderful believers involved in it. I have been a seeker of Jesus Christ since 1974 in Ketchikan, Alaska. Very early into my spiritual journey, I came to the realization that I wouldn't be able to last long in this new Godly relationship without becoming able to understand the Bible. God supplied that need, and shortly thereafter I became interested in Biblical research ... Greek, word studies, HOW the Bible is designed to be understood, its customs, etc. I married Sharon in 1985 in Vancouver, Canada. I have 5 children - 3 girls, 2 boys....ages 30-36. All were homeschooled. 3 are happily married. I have 8 grandchildren. I have taught and studied the Word of God in informal gatherings in England, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Canada, Alaska, Nevada and all over the United States. In 2006 I became aware of God calling me into the revelation of the glorified Christ within, and I have been involved in making that revelation known since then. I recently moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, after living in Fitchburg, Wisconsin (suburb of Madison) since 1990.. If you're ever in the area, please look me up. I am a retired house painter, and God is providing for my wife and I abundantly! I am meek to the instruction of God...which often occurs while another person is speaking! So don't be afraid to comment on any of these studies. Because my heart is open to my master teacher, Jesus Christ!

We read this together in the car on our drive to PA. Thanks!

I saw the power in action later as I prayed during a strife-ridden time on our drive. Within 5 minutes hearts changed, and we were high fiving each other in celebration of victory over the enemy!
