Some Truths about Truth

.

Be sure to take a look at the study Truth vs. RealityI have had many believers share with me about the power and deliverance happening in their lives simply by understanding the difference between these two.  In short, lies are real, and may be our reality, but lies are not truth.  Once people understand this, they are able to stand against the very real lies of darkness which have troubled and enslaved them for years.

So today we’ll look at some characteristics of truth.  Hopefully, this will help in your spiritual quest.

1.  Truth is spiritual.

John 14:17  Even the spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows (ginosko’s) him; for he dwells with you (in Jesus), and shall be in you.

John 16:13Howbeit when he, the spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come.

John 4:4  God is spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

All you can say about the physical universe’s interactions or state of being are facts and not truth.  “It’s a cloudy day.”  “I’m all wet.”  “I got an F on my test.”   All are facts.

2.  Truth is of God.

John 17:11b …Your Word is truth.

John 6:63  It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

3.  Truth cannot change, or be changed.

II Corinthians 13:8  For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

4.  Truth imparts life.

See John 4:14 below, John 6:63 above.

5.  Truth is not static….it flows, it sustains.

John 4:14  But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 7:38, 39a  He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  (But this he spoke of the spirit….)

6.  Truth enlightens.

John 3:21  But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

I John 1:6  If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.

7.  Truth saves us (that is, it gives us life, sustains us and enlightens us).

II Thessalonians 2:9, 10  Whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

II Thessalonians 2:13  But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the spirit and belief of the truth.

Satan was Lucifer, the angel of light, which gave appearance to all creation.  When he desired to be like the most high God, desiring to exalt his abilities (which came from God), because of pride, to the throne of truth, what he was really doing was claiming that appearance was the most important thing in life…..not the truth of God!

Until truth becomes the thing you love; until your desire for truth trumps your desire for a good appearance, you will not be saved by the God of truth.  But you can be saved.   Seek truth.

And as the truth begins to course through your thoughts, life will be imparted to you, energy, completeness, enlightenment, wisdom.

8.  The truth is Christ.

John 16:14  He (the spirit of truth) shall glorify me; for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.

John 14:6  Jesus said unto him, I am the way and the truth and the life; no man comes to the Father but by me.

John 1:17  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Christ is the life, the power, the wisdom, the authority, the energizing, the truth of God.

About stevehartlaub@gmail.com

I'm a 73 year old spiritual adventurer in life, but I don't really get along with organized religion. I find it too passive, too worldly, too conforming, too powerless ... though I know many wonderful believers involved in it. I have been a seeker of Jesus Christ since 1974 in Ketchikan, Alaska. Very early into my spiritual journey, I came to the realization that I wouldn't be able to last long in this new Godly relationship without becoming able to understand the Bible. God supplied that need, and shortly thereafter I became interested in Biblical research ... Greek, word studies, HOW the Bible is designed to be understood, its customs, etc. I married Sharon in 1985 in Vancouver, Canada. I have 5 children - 3 girls, 2 boys....ages 30-36. All were homeschooled. 3 are happily married. I have 8 grandchildren. I have taught and studied the Word of God in informal gatherings in England, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Canada, Alaska, Nevada and all over the United States. In 2006 I became aware of God calling me into the revelation of the glorified Christ within, and I have been involved in making that revelation known since then. I recently moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, after living in Fitchburg, Wisconsin (suburb of Madison) since 1990.. If you're ever in the area, please look me up. I am a retired house painter, and God is providing for my wife and I abundantly! I am meek to the instruction of God...which often occurs while another person is speaking! So don't be afraid to comment on any of these studies. Because my heart is open to my master teacher, Jesus Christ!
