.Whenever I read political rants, whether about a political figure, or the Democrats, or Republicans, the truth of this study comes to mind.
The Kingdom of Heaven is not a location, but rather a state of being, an ever-presence.
John 18:33-36 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Are you the king of the Jews? Jesus answered him, Are you saying this thing of yourself, or did others tell you of me? Pilate responded, Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you unto me; what have you done? Jesus responded, My kingdom is not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now is my kingdom not from here.
The kingdom of heaven is not a location, not a place. It’s not out there somewhere. Otherwise, this next makes no sense.
Colossians 3:1 Since you are then risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
How can we be asked to seek something that cannot be found? Rather, the kingdom of God is to be laid hold of, and no matter how much we’ve obtained, there will always, always be more for the taking. But first, we must be born of the spirit, for the kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom, and our inheritance is a spiritual inheritance.
John 3:5 Jesus responded, Verily verily I say unto you, Except a man be born of water (physical birth) and the spirit (spiritual birth), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
This tells us that, though there is a physical aspect to entering into the kingdom of God, it cannot happen without God’s spirit. This spiritual birthing is done for us, only by God Himself, by means of the work already accomplished by His son Jesus Christ.
Colossians 1:13 Who (God) has delivered us from the power (exousia – authority) of darkness, and has transferred us into His beloved son’s kingdom.
Because I am a joint heir with Christ, his kingdom is my kingdom too.
Romans 8:16, 17a The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God; And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;
I lay hold of my inheritance of God’s kingdom by means of the manifestation of the spirit of God within.
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness, and peace and joy in the holy spirit.
However much of my inheritance I lay hold of now, it will only be a foretaste of my entire inheritance. Because it will take a limitless amount of time to obtain it all!
Ephesians 1:14 Which (holy spirit of promise) is the earnest of our inheritance until (eis – unto) the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory.
No work of the flesh will cause you to lay hold of any portion of your spiritual inheritance.
Galatians 5:21 … Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
I Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.
The hope of our inheritance is not seen by physical eyes, not held in physical hands, not understood by a carnal mind.
I Corinthians 2:9, 10 But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him. But God has revealed them unto us by His spirit; for the spirit searches all things, yeah, the deep things of God.
Never think that our government or this world in this age will become either more or less godly, or that any man can save us; that any man can make this country godly. Only one man, Jesus Christ, has the power and authority and ability to do any of these things. And he will.
I Corinthians 15:24 Then the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power…
Until then, rest in the Lord. Trust in his ability to overcome, to bring godliness to light, to rule with love and joy. Don’t look to the world or its leaders to be godly; rather look only to Jesus Christ, the full and complete expression of God to and for mankind. He is the Christ, the son of the living God, and believing unto him will bring you into your ever-increasing portion of the kingdom of God.
